Riverboat Gambling (week 7)

Saturday October 11th, 2008

All Times Central

This is one of those weeks why one should never bet, because the games are tough to call, and the lines are even bigger traps.

South Carolina (-2.5) at Kentucky - 11:30 AM on Raycom Sports
Porch picks: Gamecocks 27-17

Why? Kentucky's offense is pretty offensive, while the Gamecocks have been gradually getting better in every facet. A big win for Carolina last week translates into confidence and another victory this week.

#13 Vanderbilt (-2.5) at Mississippi State - 1:30 PM
Porch picks: Commodores 24-9

Why? Bobby Johnson has this team focused and ready to play, still hungry for more against a truly disappointing and inept State crew. Even though Vandy's offense isn't prolific, it's enough to win.

Tennessee at #10 Georgia (-12.5) - 2:30 PM on CBS
Porch picks: 42-10

Why? The Volunteers are just awful and have a head coach under siege. This does not bode well for them between the hedges, as the new QB gets broken...broken in against the Dawgs.

Arkansas at #20 Auburn (-17) - 4:00 PM
Porch picks: Tigers 17-13

Why? I know Arkansas is very bad, but Auburn's embarrassing treatment of Tony Franklin combined with a wholly untalented, undisciplined, gawd-awful offense gives the Razorbacks a really good chance to win.

#4 LSU at #11 Florida(-6.5) - 7:00 PM on CBS
Porch picks: Gators 31-21

Why? Duel QB systems just don't work well against battle tested teams with proven leaders at the same position. It's a big deal. The Gators will get this one done in the swamp tonight against "The Hat"---really, that's what we're calling that douche bag, Les Miles now? really?---
