Everyone Deserves A Second Chance

When it comes to college football I give very little credence to the hype, and when it comes to recruiting, I care even less about the stars next to a kid's name.

How many times has a kid with few stars come out of nowhere to become the next big thing in the game? Ben Roethlisberger, Mark Ingram, DeMarcus Ware.......

How many times has a highly-touted "savior of the program" been recruited with Super Star potential and they were never heard from again? Mitch Mustain, Ryan Perrilloux, Jonathan Crompton....

Two years ago it seemed like Cameron Newton would become just one more name on the "colossal bust" list when the 5-star (*****) recruit and heir apparent to Tim Tebow stole a laptop and was subsequently dismissed from the Gator program.

My how things can change! After winning a national championship at Blinn College, a JUCO in Texas, Newton was back on the recruiting block and ended his second search for a home on The Plains in Auburn.

For someone who doesn't get hot and bothered about recruits and stars, I'm pretty hot and bothered by his highlight video: The Arm of Brett Favre with the running apt of Vince Young (600 yds, 16 Rush TDs), and the smart decisions of Matt Ryan (60% completion%, 2800 yds, 22 TDs, 5 Int).

He deserves and second chance; I'm just glad he got it as an Auburn Tiger.

When Cameon Newton (I am sure you love his first name) stole the laptop, and then threw it out the window when the cops came, I sent word to him that he could've gone to Freed-Hardeman.

Every incoming freshman gets a laptop and iphone as part of their partnership with Apple. No need to steal one.

He is a stud, good luck with our former prodigy.

That's a great deal, but the only problem is that he would have to go to Freed.
